LZ Love is a Chicago born, Berkeley raised singer-songwriter living in Austin, TX. Love began her career in the mid ‘70’s, becoming a welcome addition to the roots-music scene. Love’s outstanding voice rival’s anyone, anywhere and it is no surprise that LZ Love began her career as a backing vocalist and has already worked with a diverse range of talents ranging from Luther Vandross, James Brown and George Benson to Robin Williams. Love has “got the juice” with an attitude that sees the world and its multi-faceted components with a clear focus. Love is poised for great things and her future is bright. Lightning Red is another Chicago born “natural” guitar player, with a loose, light technique that seems almost effortless. Red has an impressive persona and stage presence, and is a master of both acoustic and slide guitar. Red’s guitar playing never fails to impress. Clifton Fifer is a special guest and Kerrville resident who is no stranger to the Coffeehouse series. Fifer is known for programs about Black Cowboys, Buffalo Soldiers, and Native Americans. Fifer presents Black Cowboy poetry that reflects the sacrifice, hard work, discipline, dedication, insight and investments of Black Cowboys into a future that promised a better way of life.

Coffeehouse Series: Women’s History Month
When: March 12, 2008

Location: Lion’s Den in Schreiner University Cailloux Student Center
Time: 7pm – 9pm
Featuring: Terri Hendrix & Lloyd Maines
Contact: Kathleen Hudson: 830-792-2409
Cost: Admission is FREE
Open mike, Open to public

The Second Texas Music Coffeehouse of 2008 will feature performances by Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines.  Hendrix is a true Texas singer-songwriter based in San Marcos, TX that believes in patients, hard work, and persistence. Her involvement in the Texas Hill Country has helped inspire students of all ages, from Elementary school students to College graduates. Hendrix is an amazing performer and a great writer. Her story telling has a certain kind of believability that is natural, and she can turn on a dime and twist it around where it’s as unexpected and as funny as anything you could imagine. Maines is not only a great musician but a producer of many great Texas recordings, including “Home” by the Dixie Chicks. Maines is best known as a steel player, but he's also been a producer for almost two decades now. It seems the prolific Lloyd Maines, doesn't waste a single second of his waking hours, he's virtually everywhere and will be at Schreiner University March 12, 2008.
